Could this be the rumored Ryzen AI 9 HX 375 mobile processor?
HP Unveils OmniBook Laptop with Mystery AMD CPU, Surpassing Current Ryzen AI 300 Flagship HP has unveiled its latest OmniBook Ultra laptop, touted as the “world’s highest performance AI PC,” featuring a new Ryzen mobile CPU from AMD. This processor includes an NPU that delivers 55 TOPS, surpassing AMD’s current fastest Strix Point processor, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, which offers 50 TOPS from its NPU. Moreover, there are rumors suggesting AMD may soon release an even faster Ryzen AI 300 (Strix Point) CPU with an enhanced NPU capability.
It would indeed claim the title of the fastest NPU available, potentially holding that position for quite a while. Intel’s upcoming Lunar Lake mobile silicon, expected to debut, is projected to achieve up to 48 TOPS with its NPU. It’s important to note that TOPS performance refers solely to the NPU and doesn’t encompass the overall computing power of the CPU or integrated GPU, which also contribute to AI tasks.
We’re eager to conduct thorough testing with the new HP OmniBook Ultra once it becomes available. According to reports, HP plans to launch the laptop in August in the US, with availability through its own online store and Best Buy.
Analysis: Is it the HX 375 or a custom silicon solution?
This unexpected development has caught us by surprise. The emergence of a new AMD chip with enhanced NPU performance aligns with recent leaks reported by VideoCardz, which highlighted HP’s press release. According to these leaks, there have been sightings of an HX 375 chip, purportedly a slight upgrade over the current flagship HX 370, in the CPU-Z monitoring utility.
While there is speculation that HP may have developed a custom variant of an existing AMD Strix Point processor, this seems less likely. The prevailing belief is that the HX 375 does indeed exist. We won’t have to wait long to confirm, as the laptop is set to debut in August. If indeed the HX 375 is on its way, its rapid arrival would be notable, given that the Ryzen AI 300 series, including the HX 370, is scheduled for launch later in July, at least in the US.
