Key Responsibilities
As a Project Manager specializing in compute infrastructure, you will be responsible for the following:
- Infrastructure and Project Analysis:
- Analyze and verify infrastructure and project requirements to ensure completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, and feasibility. Confirm that all requirements adhere to established standards and best practices.
- Project Leadership:
- Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of infrastructure projects, including servers, virtualization, storage, and cloud computing solutions. Your leadership will be crucial in driving these projects to successful completion.
- Stakeholder Coordination:
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with stakeholders, including operations teams, developers, and senior management. Align project goals and timelines with stakeholder expectations to ensure smooth project execution.
- Risk Management:
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with compute infrastructure projects. Ensure timely resolution of issues to minimize project impact and maintain progress.
- Process and Documentation:
- Identify and analyze processes, procedures, and work practices. Document these for standard operations and prepare project-specific documents required for planning, procurement, design, and implementation.
- Resource Management:
- Manage and allocate resources such as hardware, software, and personnel effectively to meet project deadlines. Ensure optimal utilization of resources to achieve project objectives.
- Performance Tracking:
- Track and report on project performance, progress, and key deliverables. Ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget by providing regular updates and adjustments as needed.
- Vendor Collaboration:
- Collaborate with third-party vendors, including Microsoft, VMware, and hardware suppliers. Manage procurement, integration, and troubleshooting to support project needs.
- Post-Project Support:
- Oversee post-project support and handover processes to operations or Run the Business (RTB) teams. Ensure a smooth transition and continued support for project outcomes.
- Technical Expertise:
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of compute environments, including servers, hypervisors (VMware, Hyper-V), cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure), and storage solutions. Apply this knowledge to manage and support projects effectively.
- Project Management Frameworks:
- Demonstrate proficiency in both Agile and traditional project management frameworks. Adapt management approaches based on project requirements and organizational needs.
- Budget Management:
- Manage project budgets, negotiate with vendors, and optimize costs. Ensure financial aspects of projects are handled efficiently to support overall project success.
- Project Tracking Tools:
- Keep all projects up to date in EPM (Enterprise Project Management) and Jira. Maintain accurate and current project status reports for management review.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Ensure all project documentation is up to date and readily available for reference. Maintain project trackers, risk registers, and status updates for management reporting.
- Strategic Initiatives:
- Assist with other strategic initiatives and ITC-approved projects in the pipeline. Support the organization in achieving broader IT and business objectives.
- IT Team Coordination:
- Work closely with the IT team to collaborate with technology vendors on projects. Support hardware and software upgrades as required.
- Specialized Project Management:
- As a specialized project manager, take responsibility for project management, tracker updates, management reports, risk register management, and coordination with all stakeholders. Ensure alignment with management guidelines, manage downtime, oversee change control, and follow up on task execution.
