Islamabad: The Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA) has reported a substantial surge in car sales in June 2024, recording a remarkable increase of 137.91% compared to the same month in the previous year (2022-23).
In June 2024, car sales climbed to 10,128 units from 4,257 units sold in June 2023.
However, for the fiscal year 2023-24 (July-June), overall car sales witnessed a decline of 15.63% compared to the previous fiscal year, amounting to 81,677 units sold as opposed to 96,811 units.
Detailed figures reveal that sales of Honda Civic and City totaled 11,501 units, down from 12,823 units in the previous fiscal year. Similarly, Toyota Corolla and Yaris sales dropped by 13.44% to 16,305 units from 18,838 units. Suzuki Swift experienced a significant decline of 40.38%, with sales decreasing to 5,567 units from 9,338 units.
During the fiscal year under review, Suzuki Alto saw a slight increase of 1.42% in sales, rising from 35,379 units to 35,883 units. Conversely, Suzuki Bolan’s sales decreased to 2,774 units compared to 4,447 units in the previous year.
Sales of Suzuki Cultus fell to 3,689 units from 6,956 units, and Suzuki WagonR sales declined to 3,595 units from 5,434 units.
The data highlights fluctuations in Pakistan’s car market amid varying consumer trends and economic conditions.
